If there's one thing Munichers know how to do and do well, its how to throw a great festival. Spring and summer days are filled with the chance to celebrate at one of the many fests going on in the city. Here's a list of some of the larger festivals taking place this year.

March 09 - March 25
Now careful with this one, the beer served during the Starkbierfest is usually between 7.5% to 8% alcohol, served a liter at a time just like at the Oktoberfest. Located in the Paulaner Festsaal. U1 to "Kolumbusplatz", then Tram 25 to "Ostfriedhof".

April 20 - May 06
Because spring is a great reason to set up beer tents!!! A smaller version of the Oktoberfest. Located on the Theresienwiese. U4 or U5 to Theresienwiese.

May 24 - 27
The largest yearly student festival in Europe, StuStaCulum, is a three day music and theatre festival with multiple stages and events taking place simultaneously, plus great student prices on beer and food. (EUR 2,- admission is good for all three days) Located in Studentenstadt. U6 to Studentenstadt.

May 12
From 8pm to 3am various music venues are set up throughout the city. From Rock and Pop to Classical and Jazz, shuttle buses are used to take you from one venue to the next.

June 16 & 17
Join in the birthday celebrations! Munich turns 848 this year. Located between Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz in the city center.

June 14 - July 09
A yearly summer music festival with various venues, outdoor bars and vendors with lots of fun goodies for sale. Located in Olympiapark. U3 to Olympiazentrum.

July 06, 07, 08, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 27, 28
Journey into the middle ages with a program featuring a medevil market, 7 stages spread throughout the grounds, and a grand tournament to defeat the black knight! For more information and directions to Kaltenberg clink here / see page ??.

August 02 - August 19
A two week fair with Ferris wheel, vendors and, of course, beer tents! Located in Olympiapark. U3 to Olympiazentrum.

September 22 - October 07
Only the world's biggest and greatest beer festivals ever!
